Giuseppe Bolzoni is born in Caselle Landi, a municipality in the province of Lodi (southern of Lombardia) in 1951. He has achieved an Italian high school diploma for chemistry.
He has worked in a research and development laboratory for a multinational company producing household detergents and disinfectants; now he is retired.
 
He started with the activities in Civil Protection and Red Cross in 1995. Now, he is an Emergency Manager.
He has cooperated with the Italian Civil Protection Department for the evacuation of people during the emergencies developing protocols for the evacuation of communities during the eruption of the Etna volcano and in the Pianura Padana plain during the Po river flooding (Po in 1994 and 2000; Adda river in Lodi in 2002). He has prepared the civil protection plan for its community.
He is the Italian Delegate for the WASH activities for the Red Cross (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene).
He has cooperated with other organizations for hygiene and drinking water problems during the emergencies including UNICEF, UNHCR, Oxfam, IWMI, Ministry of Environment, Baghdad, Iraq, etc.
He has worked as volunteer for the Red Cross (WASH section) in the following emergencies: Kossovo war (1999); Baghdad – Iraq (Third Gulf war – 2003 and 2004); Tsunami in Sri Lanka (2005); Panama – WASH training course for people of South America and Caribbean countries (2007); Georgia-South Ossetia war (2008); Haiti earthquake (2010); Haiti Cholera outbreak (2010); Emergency North Africa (Libia) (2011).
 
Other activities not in emergencies were: cooperation with Unicef (2007-2008) for lab analyses of heavy metals in drinking water of rural communities in Bolivia. The water of 370 wells have been analysed. Analytical support for IWMI to map the quality of drinking water in Kalpitiya peninsula (2005-2006). Analyses of drinking water quality in the Baghdad aqueduct (2004-2005). Cooperation with UNICEF Mauritania – Study and development of methodology for the reduction of algae growth in the jerry cans (2009). I.RE.F. (High school of Civil Protection – Regione Lombardia) – “Management of the toilets during the non epidemic emergencies”. Cooperation with different NGO’s for drinking water problems.
