Grigorean Mihai Jhonny

Mihai Grigorean has worked in the Disaster Response sector for over eight years. As HFH Romania’s former Disaster Response program manager, he piloted HFH Romania’s Disaster Response program, creating and implementing the nation-wide DR strategy. He has managed several DR projects with total budgets of 4.5$ million focused on post flooding reconstruction, community recovery and community based risk management. As a SAMR volunteer DRR expert he was involved in the implementation of several disasters response projects across the country with focus on emergency interventions during the winter storms and floods in 2010 and 2011.

Since 2012, his level of expertise has been enriched by his professional experience gained at regional and international level. As HFH DRR Coordinator for Europe, Middle East and Africa region, he has been particularly involved in risk reduction program development such as community based risk management, organizational and community preparedness and finally, both nonstructural and structural mitigation programs in countries like Hungary, Romania, Poland, Armenia, Jordan, Madagascar, Kenya, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Finally, he was recently deployed in the Philippines for supporting the early recovery efforts after Haiyan Typhoon.

Mr. Grigorean has a master’s degree in Business Management and Communication from the “National School of Political Studies and Public Administration”, University of Bucharest. He also has a university degree in Cooperation and Development from “Marc Bloch University of Strasburg”, France. He was awarded an international certificate as Trainer of Trainers in Disaster Response and Humanitarian Assistance by the “Shelter Centre Geneva, Red R India and the Humanitarian Benchmark Australia” in 2011. In 2013, he has awarded an Advanced Study Certificate in Disaster Risk Reduction by “Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne”.
